Bacon Phat
In this bonus episode, Julia and co-host Rique, our new friend we met at a BLM protest in Colorado Springs, discuss The End of Policing as a response to police brutality and racial equality. Too often, white people refuse to let Black Americans lead the discussion on issues of race. That has to end. "Defund the police" means fewer police antagonizing communities of color and more money directed to education and community initiatives. Police should not be the primary point of contact for the homeless or mentally ill. Prostitution and drugs should be legal. Other topics include the school-to-prison pipeline, the War on Drugs and the new Jim Crow era (see Michelle Alexander's incredible book), 13th on Netflix, and the racist, violent history of police in America.
