Beschreibung

Lim Qi Xuan (aka Qimmyshimmy), is a Singaporean artist who has gained an international following on social media for her thought-provoking artwork featuring macabre miniature sculptures of babies (faces, hands, and hearts) worked into familiar foods like dim sum, canned sardines, popsicles or macarons. The works are not for the faint-hearted. Some describe her work as "pop-surrealistic" and "creepy-cute", but you decide. In fact, she’s had some unsavoury comments over the years. I will be chatting with her about inspirations, her controversies, and what she has learned about life through her art. Join me in Becoming Friends With Qimmyshimmy.

Ep 1 | Beaunite: Cyberbullying, dreams, becoming my inspiration

On 5 Dec 2017, i picked up my phone to see the internet abuzz about a Singaporean kpop group called ‘beaunite’. These girls uploaded a debut video onto Youtube and became an overnight viral sensation…. but not in a good way. They were being called cringey, ugly, and told to stop doing whatever they were doing. All this before they even performed anything for the public. Since then, the girls kept a low profile and we haven’t heard of since. But while researching for You Only Debut Once, I managed to sit down with 2 ex-members of Beaunite (Renee,15 and Minghui,19) to find out how they’re doing. Where are they now, 2 years on?! I truly believe that this will shed new light bullying/cyberbullying and help us towards becoming better humans
