Coffee Talk Reboot

Hello again you beautiful listeners.  I had started this podcast with every intention of making it big and doing big things and low and behold, I did not do that.   So here I am to say, WELCOME BACK!! I am rebooting the podcast and going to take this in a new direction.  After a year from actual hell and the collective recovery from the year of COVID shutdowns and isolation, I am going to make this podcast anew. There will be random topics and lots of new things to talk about as I begin again and try this with a fresh perspective. I really hope that you will join me as I talk about love, loss, food, heart break, sex, money, forgiveness, mental health and other random topics. I am doing this from the comfort of my own home and have some pretty fun ideas, but I want to leave some surprises.   So here is to season 2 episode 1 of Coffee Talk with Katie. New Year New You! Sit down and grab a cup of coffee with me as I chat about resolutions.

New year's resolutions...setting us up for success or failure? I have some thoughts on this topic and some may not be popular. Every year we ring in a new year and then we get straight to work. I remember when I used to always make one of my main resolutions, loose weight. Well I'm not the only one. Apparently around 94 million Americans set their sights on weight loss. In fact the self improvement game is racking up some serious figures. Weight loss industry alone grossed $72 billion dollars in 2019. The self help movement grossed $11 billion dollars in 2018 and is up 18% from 2016. So why are resolutions so important? Are we that unhappy with who we are that we feel we need to change who we are? This is just a short chat about how we need to shift our mindset from resolutions to setting realistic long term goals. Also cut yourself some slack...this last year was a Shit show and we need to recoup from that. Setting some reasonable goals is healthy for personal growth. We all need to continue to grow as individuals and learning, educating ourselves and being real with ourselves are some of the ways we can do this. So when I say set goals I mean for the whole year. I also mean be real with yourself and give yourself some grace. So what are some goals you have for yourself? Good morning and welcome to coffee talk with Katie. This morning I unpack the weird world we are living in and delve into a bit of politics. So who am I, you may be asking. My name is Katie Chandler, a midwest gal living in the PNW of Bellingham WA. My current occupation is as a bartender and cook but my passion has always been people and community. I love cooking, writing, traveling & being outdoors and I want to find a way to incorporate these with interviews and chats of some interesting people.
