Conversations with Pastors
In this exploration of James 1:22, we confront an uncomfortable truth: it's entirely possible to be surrounded by Christian teaching, to sit in church week after week, and yet remain spiritually deluded about our true condition. The passage warns us against becoming 'merely hearers' who deceive ourselves into thinking proximity to truth equals spiritual maturity. This self-deception manifests when we measure our growth by the sermons we've heard, the theological content we've consumed, or the degrees we've earned, rather than by actual obedience and transformation. The antidote isn't more information—it's biblical meditation, that lost art of deeply pondering God's Word until it infiltrates our inner conversation and transforms our daily responses.
