Fake German heiress Anna Sorokin conned her way into Manhattan society. Posing as Anna Delvey, a German heiress, she swindled banks, hotels, and friends out of more than $200,000. She forged checks to get money from banks and charmed people into paying for extravagant meals and travel. Sorokin was convicted on a handful of grand larceny and theft of services charges. A jury took just under 3 hours to convict Richins. During the trial, she addressed the court and her children,  saying she doesn't want anyone telling them their father was murdered, and for the three of them to look after each other.  Then it was the children's turn. Letters written to the court, read by therapists, laid out the depth of the children's lack of warmth for their mother.  They told their mother and the judge that if Kouri was released from jail, they would be afraid.  Now Kouri is planning her appeal, accusing the judge of bias.
