They found Starr's apartment undisturbed - the TV was on a cartoon channel, her curling iron was still plugged in, and her purse and keys were still inside, but her car was missing. Starr was in the midst of a tumultuous divorce and custody battle with her husband, Scott Snouffer, and was set to testify against him in a car theft trial.
