However, we often overlook the simple fact of the necessity of Spirit-empowered encouragement the Church needs to receive to keep pressing toward the goal of sharing the greatest news the world will know and making more disciples of Jesus Christ.

One characteristic of the Gospel is that it is divisive. It divides the holy from the unholy. It confronts our idol worship, and the sins we cling so religiously to. In Acts 19, we'll see how the Gospel disrupts cultural norms and empowers followers of Jesus to confront idolatry, which transforms the lives of people, cities and nations. Jesus is the light of the world, and he can transform people and cities from dwellings of darkness to beacons of light to the world. If he can transform cities then, He can do it again.
