By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥ mai man teree Tek mere piaare mai man teree Tek || You are the Support of my mind, O my Beloved, You are the Support of my mind. ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਬਿਰਥੀਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਏਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ avar siaanapaa biratheeaa piaare raakhan kau tum ek ||1|| rahaau || All other clever tricks are useless, O Beloved; You alone are my Protector. ||1||Pause|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥ satigur pooraa je milai piaare so jan hot nihaalaa || One who meets with the Perfect True Guru, O Beloved, that humble person is enraptured. ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ gur kee sevaa so kare piaare jis no hoi dhiaalaa || He alone serves the Guru, O Beloved, unto whom the Lord becomes merciful. ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥ safal moorat guradheau suaamee sarab kalaa bharapoore || Fruitful is the form of the Divine Guru, O Lord and Master; He is overflowing with all powers. ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥੧॥ naanak gur paarabraham paramesar sadhaa sadhaa hajoore ||1|| O Nanak, the Guru is the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord; He is ever-present, forever and ever. ||1|| ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੋਇ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ sun sun jeevaa soi tinaa kee jin(h) apunaa prabh jaataa || I live by hearing, hearing of those who know their God. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ har naam araadheh naam vakhaaneh har naame hee man raataa || They contemplate the Lord's Name, they chant the Lord's Name, and their minds are imbued with the Lord's Name. ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਾਗੈ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਕਮਾਵਾ ॥ sevak jan kee sevaa maagai poorai karam kamaavaa || I am Your servant; I beg to serve Your humble servants. By the karma of perfect destiny, I do this. ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਣੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੨॥ naanak kee bena(n)tee suaamee tere jan dhekhan paavaa ||2|| This is Nanak's prayer: O my Lord and Master, may I obtain the Blessed Vision of Your humble servants. ||2|| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇ ਕਾਢੀਅਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਵਾਸੋ ॥ vaddabhaagee se kaadde'eeh piaare sa(n)tasa(n)gat jinaa vaaso || They are said to be very fortunate, O Beloved, who dwell in the Society of the Saints. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧੀਐ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੋ ॥ a(n)mirat naam araadheeaai niramal manai hovai paragaaso || They contemplate the Immaculate, Ambrosial Naam, and their minds are illuminated. ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚੂਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਣੇ ॥ janam maran dhukh kaaTeeaai piaare chookai jam kee kaane || The pains of birth and death are eradicated, O Beloved, and the fear of the Messenger of Death is ended. ਤਿਨਾ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਣੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥੩॥ tinaa paraapat dharasan naanak jo prabh apane bhaane ||3|| They alone obtain the Blessed Vision of this Darshan, O Nanak, who are pleasing to their God. ||3|| ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ॥ uooch apaar bea(n)t suaamee kaun jaanai gun tere || O my lofty, incomparable and infinite Lord and Master, who can know Your Glorious Virtues? ਗਾਵਤੇ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਸੁਣਤੇ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥ gaavate audhareh sunate audhareh binaseh paap ghanere || Those who sing them are saved, and those who listen to them are saved; all their sins are erased. ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਕਉ ਤਾਰੇ ਪਾਹਨ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥ pasoo paret mugadh kau taare paahan paar autaarai || You save the beasts, demons and fools, and even stones are carried across. ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥ naanak dhaas teree saranaiee sadhaa sadhaa balihaarai ||4||1||4|| Slave Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary; he is forever and ever a sacrifice to You. ||4||1||4|| Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Bilaaval - 802

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mahalaa teejaa || Shalok, Third Mehla: ਪੜਣਾ ਗੁੜਣਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥ paRanaa guRanaa sa(n)saar kee kaar hai a(n)dhar tirasanaa vikaar || ਪੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਨਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ (ਹੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ) ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੋਰ ਵਿਹਾਰਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਇਹ ਭੀ ਇਕ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਹੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ (ਟਿਕੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ) ਹਨ Reading and studying are just worldly pursuits, if there is thirst and corruption within. ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਭਿ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ haumai vich sabh paR thake dhoojai bhai khuaar || ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ (ਪੰਡਿਤ) ਪੜ੍ਹ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ । Reading in egotism, all have grown weary; through the love of duality, they are ruined. ਸੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ so paRiaa so pa(n)ddit beenaa gur sabadh kare veechaar || ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸਮਝੋ), ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, He alone is educated, and he alone is a wise Pandit, who contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖੋਜੈ ਤਤੁ ਲਹੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥ a(n)dhar khojai tat lahai paae mokh dhuaar || ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸਮਝੋ), ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, He searches within himself, and finds the true essence; he finds the Door of Salvation. ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ gun nidhaan har paiaa sahaj kare veechaar || ਜੋ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ । He finds the Lord, the treasure of excellence, and peacefully contemplates Him. ਧੰਨੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ dha(n)n vaapaaree naanakaa jis guramukh naam adhaar ||1|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਆਸਰਾ (ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੈ ।੧। Blessed is the trader, O Nanak, who, as Gurmukh, takes the Name as his only Support. ||1|| ਮਃ ੩ ॥ mahalaa teejaa || Third Mehla: ਵਿਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਿਝਈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ vin man maare koi na sijhiee vekhahu ko liv lai || Without conquering his mind, no one can be successful. See this, and concentrate on it. ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ਤੀਰਥੀ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੇ ਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ bhekhadhaaree teerathee bhav thake naa eh man maariaa jai || The wandering holy men are tired of of making pilgrimages to sacred shrines; they have not been able to conquer their minds. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ guramukh eh man jeevat marai sach rahai liv lai || The Gurmukh has conquered his mind, and he remains lovingly absorbed in the True Lord. ਨਾਨਕ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਇਉ ਉਤਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ naanak is man kee mal iau autarai haumai sabadh jalai ||2|| O Nanak, this is how the filth of the mind is removed; the Word of the Shabad burns away the ego. ||2|| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ pauRee || Pauree: ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹੁ ਇਕ ਕਿਨਕਾ ॥ har har sa(n)t milahu mere bhaiee har naam dhiraRaavahu ik kinakaa || O Saints of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny, please meet with me, and implant the Name of the One Lord within me. ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਨਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪਹਿਰਹੁ ਖਿਮ ਕਾ ॥ har har seegaar banaavahu har jan har kaapaR pahirahu khim kaa || O humble servants of the Lord, adorn me with the decorations of the Lord, Har, Har; let me wear the robes of the Lord's forgiveness. ਐਸਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਮ ਕਾ ॥ aaisaa seegaar mere prabh bhaavai har laagai piaaraa piram kaa || Such decorations are pleasing to my God; such love is dear to the Lord. ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਇਕ ਪਲਕਾ ॥ har har naam bolahu dhin raatee sabh kilabikh kaaTai ik palakaa || I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, day and night; in an instant, all sins are eradicated. ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਿਣਕਾ ॥੨੧॥ har har dhiaal hovai jis aupar so guramukh har jap jinakaa ||21|| That Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord becomes merciful, chants the Lord's Name, and wins the game of life. ||21|| Guru Amar Daas Ji in Raag Sorath - 650

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ soratt mahalaa panjavaa || Sorat'h, Fifth Mehla: ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥ jeea ja(n)tr sabh tis ke ke'ee soiee sa(n)t sahaiee || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਦੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ; ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । All beings and creatures were created by Him; He alone is the support and friend of the Saints. ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਈ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੧॥ apune sevak kee aape raakhai pooran bhiee baddaiee ||1|| ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ (ਇੱਜ਼ਤ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧। He Himself preserves the honor of His servants; their glorious greatness becomes perfect. ||1|| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ paarabraham pooraa merai naal || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ (ਸਹਾਈ) ਹੈ । The Perfect Supreme Lord God is always with me. ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਭ ਰਾਖੀ ਹੋਏ ਸਰਬ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ gur poorai pooree sabh raakhee hoe sarab dhiaal ||1|| rahaau || ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ (ਇੱਜ਼ਤ) ਰੱਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। The Perfect Guru has perfectly and totally protected me, and now everyone is kind and compassionate to me. ||1||Pause|| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥ anadhin naanak naam dhiaae jeea praan kaa dhaataa || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁਆਸ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । Night and day, Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He is the Giver of the soul, and the breath of life itself. ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਰਾਖੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਪਿਤ ਮਾਤਾ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੫੦॥ apune dhaas kau ka(n)tt lai raakhai jiau baarik pit maataa ||2||22||50|| ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਪੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੨੨।੫੦। He hugs His slave close in His loving embrace, like the mother and father hug their child. ||2||22||50|| Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Sorath - 621

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥ salok mahalaa panjavaa || Shalok, Fifth Mehla: ਭੀੜਹੁ ਮੋਕਲਾਈ ਕੀਤੀਅਨੁ ਸਭ ਰਖੇ ਕੁਟੰਬੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ bheeRahu mokalaiee keeteean sabh rakhe kuTa(n)bai naal || (ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਪ ਸੰਵਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, He has widened the narrow path for me, and preserved my integrity, along with that of my family. ਕਾਰਜ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸਭਾਲਿ ॥ kaaraj aap savaarian so prabh sadhaa sabhaal || ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ । He Himself has arranged and resolved my affairs. I dwell upon that God forever. ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇਦਾ ਲਹੁੜੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਪਾਲਿ ॥ prabh maat pitaa ka(n)tt laidhaa lahuRe baalak paal || ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਅੰਞਾਣੇ ਬਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਗਲ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ । God is my mother and father; He hugs me close in His embrace, and cherishes me, like His tiny baby. ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਏ ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥ dhiaal hoe sabh jeea ja(n)tr har naanak nadhar nihaal ||1|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵ ਦਿਆਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧। All beings and creatures have become kind and compassionate to me. O Nanak, the Lord has blessed me with His Glance of Grace. ||1|| ਮਃ ੫ ॥ mahalaa panjavaa || Fifth Mehla: ਵਿਣੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਿ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੁਖਾ ਕੈ ਦੁਖ ॥ vin tudh hor j ma(n)ganaa sir dhukhaa kai dhukh || ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਤੈਥੋਂ) ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਭਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹੇੜਨੇ ਹਨ; To ask for any other than You, Lord, is the most miserable of miseries. ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਉਤਰੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ॥ dheh naam sa(n)tokheeaa autarai man kee bhukh || (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਹ ਤਾਂ ਜੁ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਆ ਜਾਏ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ । Please bless me with Your Name, and make me content; may the hunger of my mind be satisfied. ਗੁਰਿ ਵਣੁ ਤਿਣੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਕੀਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਮਨੁਖ ॥੨॥ gur van tin hariaa keetiaa naanak kiaa manukh ||2|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਤੇ (ਜੰਗਲ ਦਾ ਸੁੱਕਾ) ਘਾਹ ਹਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੇਹੜੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ? ।੨। The Guru has made the woods and meadows green again. O Nanak, is it any wonder that He blesses human beings as well? ||2|| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ pauRee || Pauree: ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥ so aaisaa dhaataar manahu na veesarai || ਅਜੇਹਾ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ, Such is that Great Giver; may I never forget Him from my mind. ਘੜੀ ਨ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਚਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾ ਸਰੈ ॥ ghaRee na muhat chasaa tis bin naa sarai || (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ, ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ) ਘੜੀ ਦੋ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਪਲ ਆਦਿਕ (ਥੋੜਾ ਭੀ ਸਮਾ) ਸੌਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦਾ । I cannot survive without Him, for an instant, for a moment, for a second. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਲੁਕਿ ਕਰੈ ॥ a(n)tar baahar sa(n)g kiaa ko luk karai || ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਅੰਦਰ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ (ਚੁਗਿਰਦੇ ਭੀ) ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਲੁਕਾ-ਛਿਪਾ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ । Inwardly and outwardly, He is with us; how can we hide anything from Him? ਜਿਸੁ ਪਤਿ ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਸੋ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥ jis pat rakhai aap so bhavajal tarai || ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ । One whose honor He Himself has preserved, crosses over the terrifying world-ocean. ਭਗਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਤਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ bhagat giaanee tapaa jis kirapaa karai || ਉਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਤਪੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ । He alone is a devotee, a spiritual teacher, and a disciplined pratictioner of meditation, whom the Lord has so blessed. ਸੋ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਲੁ ਧਰੈ ॥ so pooraa paradhaan jis no bal dharai || ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਤਾਕਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । He alone is perfect and renowned as supreme, whom the Lord has blessed with His power. ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਰਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਸੋਈ ਅਜਰੁ ਜਰੈ ॥ jiseh jaraae aap soiee ajar jarai || He alone endures the unendurable, whom the Lord inspires to endure it. ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਨਿ ਧਰੈ ॥੩॥ tis hee miliaa sach ma(n)tr gur man dharai ||3|| And he alone meets the True Lord, within whose mind the Guru's Mantra is implanted. ||3|| Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Raamkalee - 957,958

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ bilaaval mahalaa panjavaa || Bilaaval, Fifth Mehla: ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ jiau bhaavai tiau moh pratipaal || ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ, ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰ । If it pleases You, then cherish me. ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ ਪਿਤਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ paarabraham paramesar satigur ham baarik tum(h) pitaa kirapaal ||1|| rahaau || ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ! ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਅਸੀ (ਜੀਵ) ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੁਸੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੋ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। O Supreme Lord God, Transcendent Lord, O True Guru, I am Your child, and You are my Merciful Father. ||1||Pause|| ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹਰੀ ਘਾਲ ॥ moh niragun gun naahee koiee pahuch na saakau tum(h)ree ghaal || ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ (ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ) । I am worthless; I have no virtues at all. I cannot understand Your actions. ਤੁਮਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਮਾਲ ॥੧॥ tumaree gat mit tum hee jaanahu jeeau pi(n)dd sabh tumaro maal ||1|| ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ—ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ । (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ) ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ।੧। You alone know Your state and extent. My soul, body and property are all Yours. ||1|| ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਨਬੋਲਤ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਹਾਲ ॥ a(n)tarajaamee purakh suaamee anabolat hee jaanahu haal || ਹੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਮਾਲਕ! ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਹਾਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, the Primal Lord and Master; You know even what is unspoken. ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੨੧॥ tan man seetal hoi hamaaro naanak prabh jeeau nadhar nihaal ||2||5||121|| ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਲ ਤੱਕ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ।੨।੫।੧੨੧। My body and mind are cooled and soothed, O Nanak, by God's Glance of Grace. ||2||5||121|| Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Bilaaval - 828
