It's a quick and informative read and I recommend it to anyone considering visiting San Miguel. Get this guide before you go! I searched the web and found many sources of info about San Miguel. I'm glad I found Tom Peterson's contribution to the "Greater Than a Tourist" series. Even though I only have three days to spend in San Miguel in an upcoming visit, I will use the author's suggestions to guide some of my time there. An easy read - with chapters named to guide me in directions I want to go. Five Stars Good information to have to plan my trip to this destination. I read this book front to back in one sitting before my travel to Tanzania, and it was absolutely helpful (and accurate) in preparing me in the social norms. I purchased this book aobut a month before my recent trip to Tanzania. The information in this book is helpful in understanding the people and their culture. The locals appreciated that we had some knowledge of the customs and history. One of the useful facts in this book, is that Tanzanians find it insulting if you hand them items with your left hand. The respectful way, is with your right hand. This was particularly useful to my husband - a lefty. He was very cognisant of using his right hand to pay, gesture, etc. It also provides a good insight into the politcal history of the region, which you will find useful when traversing the region. I highly recommend this book to anyone traveling to Tanzania or anyone interested in learning more about the country. It is a quick and easy read. Recommend this book Learning about the people and culture of Tanzania before we leave for Africa next month. Very informative and well written. Just the sort of details we are interested in. Engaging read! My daughter revived as a gift as she is going to be doing mission work in Tanzania for the summer. She is really enjoying book and said it is very informative and interesting without being a boring âfactâ book. Excellent Overview of History and Customs This is a very good, small pocket-size book, on a country we'll be visiting later this year. It has an incredible amount of information on Tanzania, especially for its size. The only reason I gave it four stars rather than five is because I bought it in used condition, and a new one would have - obviously - been better looking. I can recommend it highly enough, especially if you want a surprisingly complete overview of the country and its customs, without being overwhelmed with too much information.
