From starting out as a dockhand in the charter business decades ago to becoming one of the Gulf’s most accomplished tournament captains, Pat has built a career spanning charter fishing, private boats, cobia tournaments, blue marlin tournaments, and a long list of wins and close calls along the way. Over the years, he’s won everything from cobia tournaments and blue marlin tournaments to the Gulf Coast Triple Crown — while living through the kind of highs, heartbreaks, and unbelievable twists that seem to follow a lifetime spent chasing fish offshore.

Captain Malcolm Patterson’s roots along the Gulf Coast run deep—and his impact on this area stretches across generations. From his time as a charter boat captain to serving as President of the Destin Charter Boat Association, advocating for fisheries, and becoming the first Executive Director of the South Walton Tourist Development Council, he’s been part of shaping this community in more ways than most people realize. Dr David Conkle was a surgeon, a farmer, a fisherman, a loving husband, father, friend and more. Although his journey began on a farm in West Virginia, he eventually found himself on the gulf coast, submersed in a passion for fishing these waters. This zeal took him all over the world and also resulted in the building of multiple G&S boats that he lovingly named Miss Babbie, after his wife.
