Keisha Lance Bottoms, former Atlanta Mayor, won the Democratic nomination to be Georgia’s next Governor. If she wins, she becomes the country’s first Black female governor in history. I talked with Georgia political analyst Niles Francis about my skepticism about her candidacy, especially around KLB’s stint as mayor in Atlanta — and I’m not the only one. We talked at length about this reality, what it means for Georgia’s and the nation’s political climate, along with all the other races that are headed toward the runoff next month. Episode BRING BACK $800 APARTMENTS!!! Cover

BRING BACK $800 APARTMENTS!!!

Everything is too damn high, but we have the power to fix it. There are enough dissatisfied people, and the people in charge are not the people in POWER. WE ARE!!! We can get the rent lowered, the food costs back down, and the student loans gone. In this week's episode of Finally, I Can Talk, I encourage us to keep hope alive, get tapped in with those organizing for a better life, and to keep pushing forward. We don't have to accept these circumstances that keep us broke all throughout the one life we have to live. Poverty is a system that was created by design. Excuse the sound quality this week, my mic just did whatever lol. Tap into The General Strike: https://generalstrikeus.com/ and sign the strike card!!!! EFF THEM STUDENT LOANS | Ep. 10

For those of us with student loans, we were given a false promise of financial stability when we took them out. We should find ways to organize around this issue, especially considering that student loan debt disproportionately impacts Black borrowers. We carry almost 1/4 of the nation's student loan debt, even though we only represent 13% of the population. My hope is that we organize outside of electoral politics, because that is not the end all be all. We need mutual aid and solidarity.
