The same power that raised Christ from the dead continues to work in thelives of His people. It gives hope where there was despair. Strength where there was weakness. And new life where sin once held us captive. That is the power Paul longed to know more deeply. And it is the same power available to every believer today.

If someone were to ask you, “What is the purpose of the Christian life?” How would you answer? Perhaps you would speak of loving God. Serving others. Growing in holiness. Sharing the Gospel. All of these are beautiful answers. Yet beneath each one lies something even deeper. Relationship. God didn’t create us simply to learn facts about Him. He created us to know Him. As Paul reflects on everything he has gained in Christ, he reveals the deepest desire of his heart. It’s not for greater influence. Not for greater knowledge. Not even for relief from his imprisonment. His greatest longing is wonderfully simple. “That I may know Him.”

After describing all the accomplishments he once treasured, he now reveals what truly gives him confidence—not what he had done for God, but what God had done for him through Christ.
