Submission is one of those words that can instantly put your guard up and for good reason. Our culture often frames it as losing yourself, losing your voice, or giving in to pressure. But when we open 1 Peter 2:11–25, a different picture comes into focus: biblical submission is not a figure-four leg lock. It’s a clear-eyed recognition of God’s authority, rooted in the unchanging truth of Scripture rather than the shifting values of the moment.  We talk through why this matters in real life, especially when faith feels out of step with the world around us. Peter reminds Christians who we are: God’s beloved children, sojourners and pilgrims with a deeper citizenship, and people engaged in an inner spiritual battle as fleshly desires wage war against the soul. That identity reshapes our choices, because our daily conduct doesn’t just affect us it either strengthens or weakens our credibility as a Christian witness. When unbelievers are watching closely, honorable living and good works can remove easy excuses to dismiss the gospel and, in God’s kindness, become part of the story that leads to their “day of visitation.”  We also move into the hard but necessary question of authority and government. Scripture calls us to submit to human institutions for the Lord’s sake, because we represent Jesus in public, not just in private. The episode closes by setting up part two, where we’ll look more closely at Jesus as the supreme example of suffering unjustly while entrusting Himself to the One who judges righteously. If you want practical biblical teaching on Christian submission, spiritual warfare of the heart, and living with hope in a hostile world, listen now, then subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the show. Episode Am I Fully Known and Fully Loved? Cover

Am I Fully Known and Fully Loved?

One question can undo a lot of fear if you let it: does God actually know my name? Not “know about me” in a distant, cosmic way, but know me personally, see me clearly, and still want me. I take you to Psalm 139, where David describes a God who searches us, understands our thoughts, and knows our words before we speak them. That is either terrifying or deeply comforting, and for many of us it is both. We walk through three anchors from Scripture that reshape how a new believer thinks about God’s relationship with them. First, God knows everything about you and he has not run away, which means his love is not based on incomplete information. Romans 5:8 puts weight under that promise: Christ dies for us while we are still sinners. Second, God is present in your whole story, even the chapters you wish were not there, and his presence does not mean he caused every hard thing. Third, God’s presence is constant and immediate, even when prayer feels like talking to the ceiling and God feels far away. If you have never turned from sin and trusted in Jesus Christ, I explain the gospel plainly and invite you to take that step today. If you are learning to follow Jesus, I want this to give you assurance, courage, and a steadier faith when emotions swing. Episode Is God Still Good When Life Hurts? Cover

Is God Still Good When Life Hurts?

Pain has a way of shrinking our world down to one question: why would God allow this? We open 1 Peter 1:6-12 and follow Peter’s steady, hope-filled logic that trials are not random, and they are not forever. God is doing something in the fire, refining genuine faith like gold so that when Jesus Christ is revealed, our lives bring him praise, honor, and glory. We also get honest about what suffering feels like. Trials bring real grief, and Scripture never asks us to fake strength or hide behind a plastic smile. At the same time, Peter refuses to let us interpret hardship as God abandoning us. He reminds us that God controls the furnace, keeps his eye on the clock, and uses even varied, unexpected troubles to meet needs we often can’t see in the moment. That perspective doesn’t erase pain, but it gives it direction and a destination. Then the message turns practical: we can enjoy a taste of glory now. Peter’s pathway is simple and searching: love Christ though we have not seen him, trust Christ when we don’t understand, rejoice in Christ with joy deeper than circumstances, and receive from Christ what we need as we keep believing. We also zoom out to the bigger storyline of salvation, foretold by the prophets and so stunning that even angels long to look into it. If you’re walking through a hard season, listen and let Scripture reset your expectations and renew your living hope. Episode Can You Find Glory In Your Suffering? Cover

Can You Find Glory In Your Suffering?

Your world can feel louder, harsher, and more hostile by the week, and that pressure has a way of shrinking your hope. We go to the opening of 1 Peter because Peter writes to believers who feel like strangers in their own culture, and he insists their suffering is not the end of their story. The headline is simple but steadying: God’s glory is the believer’s story. We unpack what “glory” means in Scripture and why human glory never lasts, no matter how impressive it looks for a moment. Then we walk through the way Peter ties our salvation to the full work of God: the Father’s choosing love, the Spirit’s sanctifying work that draws and sets us apart, and the Son’s blood that makes obedience and forgiveness possible. We also hold together what the Bible holds together: God’s sovereign grace and our real responsibility to hear the gospel, repent, and believe. From there, Peter lifts our eyes to a living hope and an eternal inheritance that cannot spoil, stain, or fade. If you’ve ever wondered whether you’ll make it to the end, you’ll hear why genuine believers are “kept by the power of God” and why trials are not pointless pain but refining fire that prepares faith for praise when Jesus is revealed. Episode Ever Feel Like You Don't Belong Here? Cover

Ever Feel Like You Don't Belong Here?

Hostility is not new, but it can feel newly personal when your faith puts you out of step with the world around you. We open 1 Peter to uncover what Scripture calls a living hope, the kind of hope that does not depend on ease, safety, or cultural approval, because it is anchored in God through Jesus Christ. If you have ever felt worn down by the constant friction of a changing culture, this message is meant to steady your footing. We also slow down to meet the man behind the letter. Peter is not presented as a flawless hero, but as a transformed disciple shaped by years with Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit. His own story of weakness and restoration reinforces a crucial point: you cannot borrow someone else’s faith, and you cannot outsource your testimony. Real Christian perseverance comes from a real walk with Christ, not borrowed words that “ring hollow” when trials hit. From there we look at the believers Peter writes to, “pilgrims” and “strangers” scattered across the Roman Empire, living with a different worldview and paying a price for it. We talk candidly about suffering, the threat of a coming “fiery trial,” and the historical reality of persecution under Rome, including Nero’s scapegoating of Christians. The goal is not panic but preparation: stand firm in grace, witness with courage, and remember that suffering is not the final chapter.
