Episode But Why Did You Stay - A candid interview with Mekisha Jane Walker Cover

But Why Did You Stay - A candid interview with Mekisha Jane Walker

This is a very personal episode for me. I will be interviewing Mekisha Jane Walker about her book, "But, Why Did You Stay?", a book about her marriage to an abusive partner. But, I also reveal details of my own abusive marriage.  It's a secret no one wants to share. There is a lot of embarrassment and judgment when it comes to domestic violence. And most people do not realize how hard it is to break free. Mekisha Jane Walker was a successful trial attorney.  No one could imagine that her life behind closed doors was filled with violence and verbal abuse.  A very public event was the catalyst to her finally breaking free. She shares her journey with us today and we discuss the stigma behind domestic violence and how YOU can help someone break free. For more information about Mekisha and her book, go to:butwhydidyoustay.com [butwhydidyoustay.com] If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship and needs help, visit: thehotline.org [thehotline.org] For any victims and survivors who need support, Call 1-800-799-7233 or 1-800-787-3224 for TTY, or if you’re unable to speak safely, you can log onto thehotline.org or text LOVEIS to 22522. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/girlhowdyoudothat/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/girlhowdyoudothat/support [https://anchor.fm/girlhowdyoudothat/support]

Episode Innocence Forgotten - Interview with Nancy Little Cover

Innocence Forgotten - Interview with Nancy Little

In this episode, I have a very candid discussion with Nancy Little. She is a survivor of sexual child abuse by her own mother. Nancy was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012 by the organization C.A.S.A (Court Appointed Special Advocates). She has shared her story many times across the country in hopes of raising awareness of sexual abuse by mothers. It's a very taboo topic that many refuse to believe but happens more often than you think. Nancy also runs an online support group called Healing Body, Mind and Spirit. The group is open to men and women and meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights. You can reach Nancy for more information by emailing her at:x5cat1@gmail.com [x5cat1@gmail.com] You can find interviews and videos on Youtube as well: https://www.youtube.com/user/x5cat1 [https://www.youtube.com/user/x5cat1] --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/girlhowdyoudothat/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/girlhowdyoudothat/support [https://anchor.fm/girlhowdyoudothat/support]
