Beschreibung

This episode of “Word, World and Worship” with Fr. Terry Keehan reflects on the readings for the Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time, showing how Scripture, daily life, and the Eucharist all meet in God’s faithful love. Fr. Terry explores Jeremiah’s experience of ridicule and exile, inviting listeners to examine their own struggles with resentment and the temptation to seek vengeance, and to trust that God hears the cry of those who are “poor in spirit.” He then turns to Romans 5, contrasting Adam’s sin with the overflowing grace of Jesus Christ, and concludes with Matthew’s call to fearless discipleship—speaking God’s truth in the light, trusting that the Father knows even every hair on our heads, and believing that the pure goodness of Christ’s presence in the Eucharist will ultimately overcome every evil. IAV | The Cost | June 19, 2026

In this episode of “In Another Voice,” Dawn Mayer reflects on “The Cost” of discipleship—what it asks of us financially, emotionally, and spiritually—and invites listeners to consider what following Jesus truly costs in their own lives. Drawing on the prophet Jeremiah’s suffering, Jesus’ missionary discourse in Matthew 10, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s distinction between “cheap grace” and “costly grace,” she challenges us to move beyond comfortable Christianity and courageously witness to the Gospel, even when it brings misunderstanding, ridicule, or sacrifice. Along the way, Dawn connects these themes to everyday questions of vocation, family, and Father’s Day, offering gratitude for fathers past and present and encouraging listeners to trust that God counts every hair on our heads and walks with us in every trial. Homily Rewind | "Pockets Full of Prayers" — 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time | Fr. Terry Keehan

The harvest is abundant. The workers are needed. Jesus says it plainly in Matthew 9 — and then commissions the Twelve to cure, raise up, cleanse, and confront. Fr. Terry Keehan brings that commission to life with two stories from this week at Holy Family. Dawn Mayer made a blanket with pockets filled with prayers from staff and parishioners, and they placed it over Kurt Canooth — a founding parishioner fighting for his life in the ICU at Condell Hospital. And in the same week, Holy Family presented a $127,257.25 check to Catholic Extension Society for Immaculate Conception Church and school in Puerto Rico, a community twice devastated by natural disaster and now being raised up. The kingdom is at hand. Right here. And it didn't cost God a thing to plant it in us. Holy Family Parish | Inverness, IL | holyfamilyparish.org/podcasts
