Texas Governor Greg Abbott has launched a desperate power grab by having his Texas Education Agency takeover the Houston Independent School District. The TEA's takeover has resulted in all nine elected board members being dismissed and having new ones appointed by the state's Commissioner of Education, Mike Morath. Morath also appointed a new Superintendent, Mike Miles, to oversee budget cuts and their new way forward. Obes Nwabara, Texas activist and candidate for Houston City Council's At-Large Seat #2, talks about what the ramifications of this takeover are and how Houston residents can push back.
