Episode Ep.3 - Life Update! Cover

Ep.3 - Life Update!

Welcome to our birth podcast! We are Emarie, a birth photographer and soon-to-be doula and Emily, a birth doula and student midwife. Together, we are in our birth era! This podcast is for anyone experiencing their own birth era, whether you’re pregnant, a parent, or a fellow birth worker. Join us for relaxed, fun, and informative conversations about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Think of it as chatting with friends in a cozy living room. Today, we’re diving into the topic of BIRTH TRAUMA with Emily's sister Hope Van Hoy! As part of today's topic, we will discuss birth trauma. Hope will tell her birth stories, which includes an aspect of birth trauma. We hope that we do this tactfully and in an educational way. However, listener discretion is still advised. Now, one thing that is important to remember as we discuss the topic of birth trauma, is that trauma is subjective. There are also different categories of trauma. Trauma can come from unpredictable medical emergencies, feeling unsupported, unheard, or violated during the birth process, having a change in your birth plan, and so many other things. We do realize that trauma is not the fault of the mother giving birth, and sometimes it cannot be fully avoided in the case of true medical emergencies. The point of today's topic is to give an example of a situation that could have been more traumatic, but some key aspects helped mitigate some of the trauma. Thank you for joining us while you are in your birth era. We really love hearing from you. If you have a question or topic you would like to hear about, or if you would like to share about your own birth era, you can send us an email at inmybirthera@gmail.com.    To help us grow our audience, you can leave a review wherever you are listening or by spreading the word about our podcast.
