On today’s show; Co-Convenor and Treasurer of Nuclear Free WA, KA Garlick, joins the show to discuss the 17TH year anniversary of former WA Premier. Colin Barnett, lifting the ban on uranium mining. The ban was lifted in 2008, after it had been passed in 2002. Greens MLC, Jess Beckerling, joins the show to discuss the recent state development bill, where companies such as; Woodside & Alcoa, were given major reinforcement to push through with plans that could further harm the environment. The bill has received further complaints, after reports that seem to show that no members of public, experts or environmental groups were utilised during the drafting plan. Leoni Lundy, Campaign Coordinator for Stop Aukus WA, joins the show to chat about the recent revelations around an extension of a nuclear zone around Garden Island, also bringing an end to fishing or recreation. On today’s show; Last Tuesday there was a large demonstration in Sydney, outside the Sydney International Convention Centre, as the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition began. Twelve people were charged after protesting against the presence of Israeli Defence contractors, at the exposition. James from Solidarity joins the show to report on what took place at the event. Longtime friend and guest of the show, Gerry Georgatos, will join us to discuss his new book; Cleveland Dodd: Child of the Desert Sunrise. His book details the tragic events that took place in 2023, where 16-year old Yamatji boy, Cleveland Dodd, passed away in the custody of WA Corrective Services. Cleveland was being housed in an adult prison, which is internationally known to be a human rights abuse. Plus the news that mainstream media didn’t discuss. On today’s program; The United States Government backed peace plan for Gaza has just come into effect, with part of it being welcomed as it includes both a ceasefire and withdrawal of Israeli Defence Force soldiers. A lot of questions still remain about what this means for Palestine and what the plan really means for them. Hiba Farra, member of Mums For Palestine in WA & longtime guest of the Indymedia Show, joins the show to discuss this more. Branch Secretary of the Maritime Union Australia, Will Tracey, also joins the show to discuss the ongoing situation in Kwinana. A grain terminal down in Kwinana has been placed into lockdown for the 2ND time in two months, despite the fact there hasn’t been any industrial action within the last five weeks. Ongoing negotiations have been held for better wages and terms for workers, but this has now resulted in more lockouts. Plus the news mainstream media didn’t discuss.
