Beschreibung

This Bonus Ep of Intrepid Aotearoa takes you to Aro Valley; an inner-city suburb in Wellington close to Central Park, Waimapihi Polhill Reserve, and Zealandia. Relax to 9 minutes of birds singing in the morning. The only reason this episode could be recorded is due to the Alert Level 4 Lockdown in Aotearoa New Zealand. Usually, these birds are drowned out by city construction, the motorway, and building air-con units. You can still hear a little bit of city white noise but you’ll also hear Starlings, Tūī, and Kākā clearly.   Intrepid Aotearoa is produced by Amy Grace Laura. Recorded using an H1n in August 2021.   Visit the Intrepid Aotearoa Youtube Channel www.youtube.com/channel/UC_RX0glXiZgbhwxTcTLr4zQ [www.youtube.com/channel/UC_RX0glXiZgbhwxTcTLr4zQ]   Visit the Intrepid Aotearoa Instagram @intrepidaotearoa [www.instagram.com/intrepidaotearoa] ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Episode Garden of Seven Stones, Rarotonga, Cook Islands Cover

Garden of Seven Stones, Rarotonga, Cook Islands

This soundscape takes you to the shores of Rarotonga, Cook Islands. The Garden of the Seven Stones was the departure point in the story of The Great Fleet, the seven vaka/waka many Māori believed sailed out into the Pacific Ocean and eventually landed on what would become known as Aotearoa New Zealand. Yes, this episode is not a soundscape from Aotearoa! But Aotearoa has a long connection with the Cook Islands and this specific location is very important to many Māori, please enjoy the sounds of the ocean crashing onto the reef in the Avana Passage. The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade describes the Cook Islands as 'a self-governing state in 'free association' with New Zealand.'   Intrepid Aotearoa is produced by Amy Grace Laura Recorded using an H1n in June 2025   Visit the Intrepid Aotearoa Youtube Channel www.youtube.com/channel/UC_RX0glXiZgbhwxTcTLr4zQ [https://open.acast.com/networks/60babaeb4c23cb001a9b4f36/shows/60babaeb4c23cb001a9b4f35/episodes/www.youtube.com/channel/UC_RX0glXiZgbhwxTcTLr4zQ]   Visit the Intrepid Aotearoa Instagram @intrepidaotearoa [https://open.acast.com/networks/60babaeb4c23cb001a9b4f36/shows/60babaeb4c23cb001a9b4f35/episodes/www.instagram.com/intrepidaotearoa] ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. Episode Kuratau, Lake Taupō Cover

Kuratau, Lake Taupō

The first episode of Intrepid Aotearoa takes you to Kuratau, a sleepy village by Lake Taupō nestled amongst the bush. It's an Autumn dawn chorus featuring Tūī, Starling, and Piwakawaka/Fantail. The area is also home to Tauhou/Waxeye, Riroriro/Grey Warbler, and Korimako/Bell Bird; a discerning ear might be able to pick all the waiata manu out.
