I remember the first time we played (and I think the only time we played), we were 3rd year high school students. It was a gig at a bar in front of our school's college. The people were years older than us. Way cooler than us. I felt so much pressure, I was so nervous. I think I took a shot(s) of Tanduay before we performed.haha Hay. High school life. I'm a big Alanis Morissette fan. I still believe she wrote some of the greatest songs in the '90s. I was 8 years old, I would sneak in my sister's room to get her Jagged Little Pill cassette tape (and No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom but saving this story for another day haha). I would get my sister's walkman and hide in a corner to listen to Alanis. It was the part where the song goes "Lonely and forgotten, never thought she'd look my way.. and she smiled at me and held me just like she used to do.. like she loved me.. when she loved me.." I was singing when I suddenly felt a lump in my throat then I started crying. I realized I was missing Charlie and I was terrified at the thought that my furbabies will eventually be gone too. I also thought of the strays.. The pets who used to have owners - owners who chose to neglect them. How lonely it must feel for these babies. We never get over those we lose. Derek Shepherd tells Meredith Grey about his thing for ferry boats. Meredith holds her first clamp. I first heard this song in an episode of Grey's Anatomy. Meredith approves her lifetime buddies to live with her in her mom's house. That series brings a whole lot of emo.haha I loved the drama in the ER and in their lives. I loved that I felt I was doctor smart too, all the medical terms, you know. 😂 There are so many songs I discovered in this series. This one in particular stuck with me. Hi I’m Jessica and this is my podcast. I’ve loved music for as long as I can remember. It’s a big chunk of me. I would sing along to Mariah Carey’s Daydream album. I’d try the runs and laugh when I couldn’t get them. When I was 8 years old, kids my age were crazy over Aaron Carter. I was busy hiding in a corner, listening to Alanis Morissette and No Doubt. In case you were wondering, I was hiding because I wasn’t allowed to listen to them just yet - you know, explicit lyrics. Growing up, I was exposed to different genres - thanks to my uncle. One day we’d be belting out to Dianne Reeves, on other days we’d be rocking out to Greenday. I have a lot of influences w hich you’ll eventually know when you go through my music. I didn’t go through training of any sort, it’s just me. Simply me. So forgive me if I’m not perfect. I’m just a woman, singing through the speakers of whatever gadget you’re holding, sharing her passion for music. Seriously though music does a lot for when I’m sad, happy, angry, scared, nervous.
