Part 3: "Marriage Story" video breakdown

How’s your cabin fever so far? 🤪 With so many of us working from home for the first time, I’m talking to a lot of people lately about their struggles to make this instant work-from-home-and-teach-my-kids-and-not-kill-my-spouse situation work. It’s creating relationship dynamics that none of us ever expected to experience in our lifetimes. So I hope you’re taking a few minutes here and there to remind yourself that this may be challenging, but you can and will get through it. In the meantime you can take a few minutes to learn how to navigate relationship struggles, since all of this closeness might be bringing some up for you. This week I’m sharing Part 3 of my life coach’s "Marriage Story" video breakdown series. It‘s a fun take on learning about relationships using an emotional scene from that movie, in three short videos. Three deep lessons in very little time. Here’s what you’ll learn in Part 3: ➡️How to avoid feeling like a victim of someone else’s behavior ➡️What you can do to stay in your power ➡️The parody of feeling like the victim of our own decisions This one is under 6 minutes – the perfect amount of time to switch browser tabs and catch the whole thing before someone realizes you’re not paying attention to the online meeting. 😄 And if you haven’t caught Part 1 and Part 2 yet, be sure to catch them here too. (Especially if the meeting goes long.) Above all, know that this shelter-in-place isn’t going to be a perfect situation, especially since so many of us had to make the adjustment in so little time with zero prior experience. But you ARE doing a great job at it. How do I know? Because you’re *doing it*. And I have faith that you are showing up as the best mom, partner, leader, and colleague that you always have been. Take a deep breath. This too shall pass. 💜

"Marriage Story" Life Coach breakdown, Part 2

I don’t need to tell you why bingeing Netflix to keep your mind off the news this week is a good idea. So if you do binge, I recommend watching "Marriage Story" if you haven’t already. It’s both heartwarming and grippingly sad - but worth every second. Trust me. Last week I shared the first of my 3-part series on life coaching lessons from the film, and what we can learn about relationships from it. In Part 2 of the series, you’ll learn: ~ How we can be happy regardless of our jobs, our houses, our marriages, or literally anything in our lives ~ How we can take responsibility for our own emotional state, keeping us within our power ~ Why changing jobs, cars, houses, spouses, or other things in our lives doesn’t make us feel happy and fulfilled Regardless of your relationship status - married, partnered, divorced, going through a divorce, or another - having a life coach’s perspective on a couple’s emotionally intense interactions can give you a whole new understanding of how our relationships can work. With so many of us spending significantly more time in our immediate family’s presence, we might as well learn a thing or two on how to make it work better, amirite? Part 1 Marriage Story movie breakdown

When I watched the movie Marriage Story on Netflix a little while ago, I couldn’t help but notice some of the characters' behavior in some of the more emotionally charged scenes from the perspective of a life coach. . And how for sure if they were my clients I would be able to coach them so that the story would have a different outcome. 😁 . I became such a fan of this movie I decided to tap into some of the content to share how coaching works in everyday life situations. Because movie or not, many couples struggle the way the characters in this film did. . I even struggled to keep it down to 3 simple parts, there was so much great stuff there! .
