What is the difference between a broken heart over a wrongdoing and the crushing weight of shame? In this episode, we kick off a new conversation about Shame. We look at how healthy guilt operates like a loving, disciplining father—it might not be pleasant, but its goal is always restoration. Shame, on the other hand, is the work of a "reasoning stranger"—an outside voice using logic to drive us into isolation. We challenge the traditional religious idea that people need to be taught to "feel the weight of their sin," arguing that humanity already feels the crushing weight of brokenness, and that’s precisely why we run and hide.

Beyond Flesh and Blood: The Heart of Metanoia
