This week I have been learning simple greetings in Cebuano. In this episode I talk through the greetings I have come across, including: * Maayong buntag – Good morning * Maayong udto – Good high-noon * Maayong hapon – Good afternoon * Maayong gabii – Good evening * Maayong adlaw – Good day As well as: * Kumusta man ka? - How are you? And a couple of responses to each. A couple of resources I mention in the episode, are the following YouTube episodes, that have been very helpful: Fidel Jezrel Gido's ‘Useful Bisaya Phrases – Polite Greetings [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RvDotqsWPY]’ Miguel Yan's 'Introductions 1 [https://youtu.be/R2XXdVY-pZw]' and 'Common Greetings [https://youtu.be/itQLuMF2rAg]'

This week I have gone back to basics, learning the Cebuano pronunciation, specifically touching on the alphabet, vowels and loan-words. I have been learning using two books and a host of different YouTube channels. Full details below. I hope you are enjoying learning about my progress and if you are learning alongside me do share your comments and suggestions! The books I used are Magbinisaya Kita Primer [https://amzn.to/2AteO6J] by Jessie Grace Udang Rubrico and A Handbook of Cebuano Visayan [https://amzn.to/2YElQ0s] by Anssi and Nida Raisanen. The three YouTube videos mentioned are from Eprill Michelson [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq3GmNDXSCY], Miguel Yan (Just4Kix [https://youtu.be/R2XXdVY-pZw]) and Judy DIY Addict [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8vXcWZxxkU]. They are really worth visiting.

Thanks for joining me for my first-month's update. How quickly it has gone! In this episode I will look at the preparations I made before starting to learn Cebuano, including finding the motivation to study and different study-techniques that are out there. I then go onto look at what I did over the four weeks and discuss what I have learned, focusing on what went well, and what went not-so-well. If you're studying alongside me, I hope you find the content useful, or if you're just joining along for the ride, I hope you enjoy it. For more, do check out the blog accompanying blog learningcebuano.blogspot.com and if you have any ideas, suggestions or advice, please let me know. Thanks again!
