Let's Talk Beauty With Dr. Downs
I have been practicing plastic surgery for 28 years. I have lived through the silicone gel scare. I used all types of breast implants in my practice. Even though the silicone gel scare occurred in the early 1990s, it hangs on till this day. Complicating this entire issue is a real problem and has reared its head over the past several years. This is called breast implant associatedanaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). This is a malignancy that has been linked to textured breast implants. He has been in the press several times over the past several years. It has caused a great deal of confusion among people with breast implants or who are considering getting breast implants. In this pod cast we will take a deep dive into this problem, explaining exactly what this illness is and its incidence. We will talk about how it presents and how it is treated. We will talk about all things implant related and, as always, will get completely sidetracked on to other topics as well. If you are considering implants for any reason, this will be an important pod cast for you. Links: Thecentrepc.com FDA.org/ALCL Plasticsurgery.org
