Responding to Enemies Psalm 57 & I Samuel 24 Tim Nay Part of The Raw and Real Psalms May 7, 2026 An enemy is often described as someone who actively seeks to injure, undermine, or block another’s success, growth, or well-being. This can be done through physical harm, emotional abuse, slander, gossip, etc. Can you think of anyone who is your enemy? > “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.” —Psalm 57:1 ESV When attacked, I will first realize my own need for God’s mercy. > “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. 3 He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. Selah God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness!’ —Psalm 57:2–3 ESV David reminds himself that God will act with help, love, and faithfulness. When afraid, I will remember God’s promises. > “My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down amid fiery beasts— the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. 5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! 6 They set a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down. They dug a pit in my way, but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah” —Psalm 57:4–6 ESV“7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.” —James 3:7-10 ESV When wounded, I will bring my pain to God honestly. > “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody! 8 Awake, my glory! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! 9 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. 10 For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. 11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! —Psalm 57:7–11 ESV When overwhelmed, I will choose worship over revenge/bitterness. > 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. —Romans 12:14-21 ESV16 As soon as David had finished speaking these words to Saul, Saul said, “Is this your voice, my son David?” And Saul lifted up his voice and wept. 17 He said to David, “You are more righteous than I, for you have repaid me good, whereas I have repaid you evil. 18 And you have declared this day how you have dealt well with me, in that you did not kill me when the Lord put me into your hands. 19 For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away safe? So may the Lord reward you with good for what you have done to me this day. —1 Samuel 24:16-19 ESV TAKEAWAY: Trust God enough to respond with goodness and a worship filled heart.

True North - "Trust Over Self-Sufficiency" - Proverbs 3:1-12 - Mike Maglish

Trust Over Self-Sufficiency Proverbs 3:1-12 Mike Maglish Part of True North July 9, 2026 Top 10 things we try to control 10 THERMOSTAT  9 Traffic  8 Our Schedule  7 Our Kids  6 What other people think about us  5 Our Money  4 Our health  3 Our Future  2 Other People  1 God 1 TRUST GOD WITH HIS WORD > My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. —Proverbs 3:1–4“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” —Matthew 7:24–27 God’s Word must SHAPE me before my circumstances SHAKE me. 2 TRUST GOD WITH YOUR LIMITS > Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. —Proverbs 3:5–8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. —Isaiah 55:8-9 Our limited UNDERSTANDING should not carry the WEIGHT of our lives.3 TRUST GOD WITH YOUR RESOURCES > Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. —Proverbs 3:9–10As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. —1 Timothy 6:17–19 Giving God your FIRST requires TRUST.4 TRUST GOD WITH YOUR PLAN > My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline or be weary of his reproof, for the Lord reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights. —Proverbs 3:11–12Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. —Hebrews 12:3–11 God’s GOODNESS doesn’t always feel GOOD. Takeaway: Stop asking WHAT you can lean on and start trusting WHO you can lean on. > Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. —Proverbs 3:5–6

True North - "He Knows" - Proverbs 1 - Guest Speaker: Danny Harrod

He Knows Proverbs 1 Danny Harrod Part of True North July 5, 2026 Love is the focus and goal of all theology and of our personal Bible study. Why Study Proverbs? Wisdom: It’s a compound Hebrew word that literally means to have a listening heart. > “I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.” —1 Kings 3:12 Vs. 2-3 “for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight; To do what is right, just and fair” Fear God:  (With Awe, Reference & Trust) Vs. 7- “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” > “The fear of the Lord isn’t about terror—it’s about recognizing His magnificent supremacy and finding my proper place in relationship with Him. Instead of anxiety, I’ve found wisdom; instead of dread, I’ve discovered His delight in me.” —Krystal Ribble- Esther Press“For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.” —John 5:20 A Morning Prayer  All knowing God. This is your day. You give and take away. This life is a gift . Help me to live in fear and wonder of you today. Give me your wisdom as I make choices today. Amen. Listen to Wise Mom’s and Dad’s (Mentors) Vs. 8-9:  “Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.” Wisdom is ready and waiting to be received. God has not hidden it from us. Vs. 20-21  “Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech” Wisdom is the answer to our anxiousness Vs. 33  “But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Takeaway:  1. Fear (Awe) God- (every morning)  2. Listen to your godly others  3. Be at ease

Psalms - "Our Good Father" - Psalm 145 - Tim Nay

Our Good Father - Psalm 145 Tim Nay Part of The Raw and Real Psalms June 18, 2026 —Judges 8:28 “What you think about God shapes your whole relationship with him. In addition, what you believe. Good things about you determine how close you will grow toward Him. Many of us have formed a picture of God from impressions we’ve picked up in passing. If we see him as an overzealous policeman, we’ll always be walking on eggshells. If we see him as an angry judge, we’ll always feel guilty. If we think he’s just like us, we’ll be casual about our sin.” —p. 20, Chip Ingram, God As He Longs for You to See Him Our VIEW of God SHAPES Our Relationship with Him Is your view of God shaped by your past… or by Scripture?
