Live Beyond the Norms
Dr. Bernstein is a clinical psychiatrist with 25 years of experience. But when two of his three sons developed autoimmune encephalitis, the conventional medicine he had trusted his entire career had almost nothing to offer. So he went out and found the answers himself. What Dr. Bernstein found made me so interested in sitting down and having a discussion with him. He believes depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder are not brain chemistry problems. Instead, he thinks these are metabolic disorders, and more surprisingly, that they could be treated with a relatively simple lifestyle change. Dr. Bernstein believes that going keto and introducing a strict workout regimen can treat conditions that most psychiatrists medicate and move on from. During our conversation, we talked about his sons, how ketosis bypasses brain insulin resistance, and how the upcoming studies could change psychiatry forever.
