Flow State 001 - House Grooves for Roller Skaters

Oscar Kingsley has been roller skating since he was a child. In 2020 he discovered rhythm skating (roller dance) which re-ignited his passion for a wide range of music outside of the Disco and Funk he'd become known for playing as London Disco Society. As a resident DJ at the infamous Flipper's Roller Boogie Palace, Oscar was part of a cohort of DJs trying to expand the sound palette enjoyed by the London skate scene. House music has been a foundational sound in the US rhythm skate community for decades, with a lot of rhythm skating originating from Chicago, the home of House. House is now a big part of the London skate culture thanks to all of the skate DJs that have been pushing boundaries with music over the last few years as the culture has grown rapidly. For Oscar a skate rinks provide what nightclubs used to before the over commodification of dance floors. There's a presence on a skate rink that means everyone is in tune with one another, much like a school of fish moving as one. Oscar has now become a regular on the roller skate DJ circuits with previous residencies for Flipper's, Roller Nation, Sk8 of Minds in London. He now plays at Bump in Bristol where he now lives and continues to push musical boundaries. Flow State is a series of mixes for roller skaters, beggining with a House mix. Skate House is not a seperate genre as such, it's just House with a specific groove or bounce. Rather than describing it, just listen, feel it and enjoy moving to it.
