As we contrast David with Saul, we discover that God is far more concerned with what is happening beneath the surface than what others can see. Through David's patience, character, and dependence on God, we're challenged to examine our own lives and ask: If we popped the hood of your life, what would we find?

Beneath the tension of the passage is a deeper question every disciple must wrestle with: will we trust God enough to obey Him fully? This message explores how partial obedience, self protection, and compromise slowly shape our hearts while also reminding us that Jesus is not trying to restrict our joy but lead us into true freedom and flourishing

Pride, fear, impatience, and self justification may be easy to hide for a season, but eventually what’s hidden comes to light. The good news of the gospel is that the very things we try to conceal are the things Jesus wants to heal.

This week in Kings and Kingdoms, we explore Israel’s demand for “a king like the nations” in 1 Samuel 8 and uncover the deeper issue beneath their request: comparison. As Israel looks around at the power and security of surrounding kingdoms, they begin to distrust the God who had faithfully led them all along. This message challenges us to confront the subtle ways comparison still shapes our lives today and points us back to Jesus, the true and better King.

This week we kicked off our new series through 1 Samuel called “Kings and Kingdoms” by looking at the life of Hannah. In the middle of grief, disappointment, and unanswered prayers, Hannah shows us what resilient faith looks like through perseverance, prayer, and praise. Her story reminds us that God opposes the proud, works even in the middle of evil and suffering, and is unfolding a greater plan through the coming King, Jesus.
