Losing a loved one is never easy, and I've been trying to process the monumental life and legacy of my grandmother-in-law. Dolores Pietropaolo lived a full life, with love and compassion at the forefront of everything she did. Together, we teach two complementary courses at Barnstable High School: Music Production and Contemporary Music Ensemble. Excerpt: “In my music production classroom, I often use Tyler as an example of what we call “the other 80%”—the creative potential that exists beyond standardized metrics of success. Tyler’s journey, from being kicked out of his high school band for his hyperactivity - to producing, performing, and designing every facet of his artistry, is a perfect illustration of creativity in action. Students are often unaware of the thousands of hours that go into honing a craft—the composing, arranging, mixing, and editing that comprise a professional musician’s daily work.
