Nonsense in the Chaos
This week on Nonsense in the Chaos, I recorded sat back up in my favourite tree, Satine... or what remains of her. She took the full force of this winter's storms and though she's still alive, just, she stands now in a different form. Sitting beneath her in the heat, I found myself reflecting on the strange threshold we seem to be standing in as a species. The air feels different. The seasons feel different. The stories we tell ourselves about tomorrow feel different. We often imagine the apocalypse as a sudden event: sirens, collapse, fire falling from the sky. But what if this is it? What if apocalypse, in its truest meaning, is not the end of the world but an unravelling? A revelation. The slow and undeniable uncovering of where we are and what we have forgotten. In Apocalypse Now; Stewardship for the Future, I explore what might be asked of us now. If the world is changing around us, perhaps our task is not simply to survive it, but to remember how to belong again. To learn all we can. To preserve wisdom wherever we find it. To understand the old ways of being in relationship with land, story and season. To embody them. To become stewards rather than consumers. Because if something is ending, something else is asking to begin.
