"Temporary Suffering" (Romans 8:18-27)

"Eh, it's only temporary!" Has anyone ever tried to comfort you through a difficult season by telling you it won't last forever? I am sure they were well-intentioned, but I doubt it really brought you any real comfort. Suffering is hard, and we would all rather take the path of least pain in life. Paul reminds us that for such seasons, we have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit, who helps us in our pain and intercedes for us through prayer. This allows us to endure, knowing that our suffering is temporary, but God's glory is forever!

"Thy Strong Word" (Isaiah 55:10-13)

"Because I said so!" How often do we wish that our words had power in and of themselves? Sadly, our words are often ignored, and in a way, they return to us void. Not so with God. His word is powerful and effective. It never returns to Him without accomplishing what it was sent out to do. Because of this, we can trust all of God's promises. And this is the kind of good news that brings us everlasting joy. So, even when life feels empty, God's word still returns full!

"Free To Serve" (Matthew 11:25-30)

Often, the things we seek to acquire or become ultimately turn into the burdens we bear and the masters we serve. Jesus invites us to take upon our shoulders His yoke, which He calls easy and light. He promises that when we come to Him, He will give us rest. We were created by God to serve. Unfortunately, we usually choose the cruel masters of this world. Instead, let us turn to the good and worthy master, the one who promises rest. In Christ, we are free to serve, let’s serve Him together this morning.

"Summer of Psalms: Joy of Forgiveness" (Psalm 32)

In Psalm 32, David confesses, “For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer.” Have you ever experienced the weight of unconfessed sin? How did it eat away at you? David continues with the good news that when we confess our sin before God, we experience the peace of His forgiveness. Let’s live out this peace in worship together!

“How deep the Father's love for us, How vast beyond all measure. That He should give His only Son, To make a wretch His treasure.” On this Father’s day, we take time to reflect upon the blessing we have of the true and perfect Father who knows us, loves us, and cares for us. We give thanks for those who have filled this earthly role in our lives, and pray that God would continue to encourage and support these men in following their call, that the next generation would ultimately be able to confess “Jesus is Lord!”
