Cromartie High School (Japanese: 魁!!クロマティ高校, Hepburn: Sakigake!! Kuromati Kōkō; lit. 'Forging Valiantly Ahead!! Cromartie High School') is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiji Nonaka. It was serialized in Shueisha's shōjo manga magazine Ribon from 1991 to 1994, with its chapters collected in eight tankōbon volumes. An original video animation (OVA), animated by Group TAC and directed by Hiroaki Sakurai, was released in 1994. Takashi Kamiyama is a first-year high school student at the newly established Cromartie Kōkō. He is persuaded by his classmates to run for student council, and he becomes eager to apply once he realizes that Freddie, a mysterious boy who rides a horse to school to whom she is attracted, is also running for student council.
