DeJuan’s passion for cutting hair began at the age of 14 taking a pair of his mother’s clippers and performing practice cuts on brothers, cousins, classmates and a host of neighborhood kids. DeJuan is a product of the KC metro area and graduated from Ruskin High School. He received his barber training from EaLa Mars Beauty/Barber College. At age 19 DeJuan began his professional barbering career at Deb’s Images where he worked for one year. ​ In 1997, DeJuan established NaPPS, his first barbershop in Olathe, Kansas. With a growing clientele, in 2009 he opened Purple Label Luxury Barbershop by NaPPS, an eight-man capacity shop with two barbers Aaron Wyatt and Darrin Dillard. Cash flow was well short of the projected budget, but DeJuan’s vision was clear and he stepped out on faith. ​ Blessed with lots of media coverage and a drive to succeed, Purple Label’s brand awareness began to spread throughout the Overland Park community. Today, Purple Label Barbershop is fully staffed and has a reputation of being one of the top rated and most talked about barber- shops in the area. ​ ​ Notables include: KC Chiefs official team barber in 1998 KC Royals official barber in 2003 KU Basketball team barber 2008-2015 Creator of the “Hoz” Eric Hosmer haircut Creator of the “Zoom” Jarrod Dyson haircut Featured on ESPN, Sports Illustrated Magazine, HBO, KC’s Creative Crossroads and Hardknocks KC First multi-ethnic barbershop in Johnson County Sponsored and coached Johnson County youth sports teams (basketball, baseball and football) ​

Host-Marlin Blakeney interviews Rodney Perry who joined the Golden Eagles prior to the 2016-17 season from Avila University where he was the head coach for six years. Perry was also the head coach for the MOKAN Elite AAU team that won the 2016 Nike Peach Jam Championship. Over the summer of 2016, Perry was also selected as a court coach for the 2016 USA Basketball Men's U17 World Championship Team training camp. The 1995 AAU Coach of the Year after winning a national championship, Perry was also selected as a coach for the USA Men's West Team competing at the 2012 Nike Global Challenge Basketball Tournament in Washington D.C. Perry also earned gold at the 2015 Nike Global Challenge. Perry is a graduate of Missouri State and helped the Bears to a pair of postseason appearances, including a 23-8 NCAA Tournament team in 1992. He earned his bachelor's degree in physical education and began coaching in 1994 as an assistant in the Missouri high school system. He coached at a pair of high schools before jumping to the college ranks, where he spent time on staff at Duquesne, Western Illinois and Southwest Baptist.
