She did not ask for an audience. For 12 years she had bled; twelve years of being unclean by the law, untouchable by her neighbors, drained not only of blood but of belonging. On this day, pressing through the crowd surrounding Jesus, she decided so quietly it lived first only in her own mind: “If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” How often do we seek, expected, healing to be delivered like an Amazon package? How have we come to expect that there is something or someone will one day discover us? It is when we realize that we have the power to heal that we realize that we can be made whole. Episode 756: Living Waters for a Thirsty World

In the Gospel of John, Jesus speaks words that echo across centuries: “Let anyone who is thirsty come and drink… and out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.” This image is powerful enough to rise above religious boundaries. Whether one approaches it from a Christian background, another faith tradition, or no tradition at all, the metaphor of living waters speaks to something deeply human: the universal longing for renewal, compassion, and connection. Episode 755: How are You Known, and by Whom?

In Ephesians 1:15, Paul writes that he has heard of the believers’ faith in the Lord Jesus and their love toward all. He heard about it, not because they announced it, not because they advertised it, not because they created a public image, but because their lives bore witness to something unmistakable. Their faith and their love were so alive, so embodied, so real that word traveled. Their lives spoke for them. And so the question arises again: how are we known? It is not by the faith we profess with our lips, but by the faith we embody in our lives. It is not by the love we claim to hold, but by the love others experience when they encounter us.
