Severns Valley
Ephesians 4:17–24 — Put off the old self and put on the new. But this is no behavior makeover. Lead Pastor Matt Beasley continues A Study Through Ephesians at Severns Valley. Paul says we no longer walk as we once did — and the danger is hearing that and feeling superior, when every one of us was once there. We aren't changed by life modification or a propositional trade ("I'll take the good and dodge the bad"); we're transformed by spending time with Jesus, dying to the old self, and being clothed in His righteousness. A few things to carry into your week: - Renewal isn't behavior modification — it's learning Jesus by being with Him (Matthew 11: "come to me… learn from me"). - Putting on the new self means dying to the old: "no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." - When you look in the mirror, the aim is to see Christ's righteousness, not your own record. - When you sin, the enemy says "this is who you really are" — that's a lie; Christ has clothed you in His righteousness and holds it fast. "When the enemy whispers that your failure is your true identity, will you believe the lie — or the righteousness Christ has clothed you in?" May 17, 2026 ——— New here, or ready to take a next step?
