We believe that everyone is recovering from something whether you are in recovery from a substance, a disorder, or a relationship. Come join us! Brian Holmon-Wilson Founder and owner of New AmsterdamPet Service. I've been sober for over a decade I have always had a love for animals and their well being since a child. At 19, I began working in animal welfare as a dog washer at a small grooming shop in Maryland. I loved washing and walking the dogs, but I wanted to do more. I eventually moved on to the Washington Animal Rescue League in Washington, D.C.. While there, I taught children about the care of animals in a shelter, became an adoptions coordinator, and eventually became a veterinary technician. After becoming a vet tech, my career in animal welfare flourished. I grew from general practice to emergency and specialty medicine in neurology. I loved it!! Summer of 2020 I have enrolled in classes at Animal Behavior College to study dog a obedience training using positive reinforcement methods While finding my passion in veterinary medicine, I noticed I had a special aptitude in relaying complicated medical information with passion, love, and care to the guardians of the animals. I not only love animals, but I seem to find a special connection with the main caregiver of the pet. My approach helps to foster an even stronger connection between guardians and pets. In the end, I believe this delivers better care for animals. I decided to start New Amsterdam Pet Service so I can bring this compassion for guardians and their pets to my community and our pets on a daily basis. With a degree in International Studies from University of San Francisco, and one semester of graduate studies in International Communications at American University, Lisa Ann was on track to launch a career in cultural diplomacy. That is, until the day that her boss (who looked exactly like Draco Malfoy, by the way) sat her down in his office and said, deadpan, “You remind me of my sister, and I don’t like that. You need to tone down your style and learn to fit in more if you’re going to succeed in this organization.” That was the end of her government career. Now, with 10 years of experience as a freelancer, indie event producer, moonlight journalist, curator, social media executive, yoga teacher, bicycle tour guide, and 5 years as co-founder and then CEO of The Haiku Guys + Gals, she’s made a radical shift to a more feminist, inclusive, and sustainable business model to celebrate the multitalented nature of her artists. Her dream? To fulfill the potential that poetry has to enrich every type of experience, on and off the page. And of course, always outside the lines.
