18.06 Adaptive Mode

In this new episode, I wanted to share something a little different—and perhaps a little more personal. As many of you know, I’m currently dealing with hearing loss in one ear, which has changed the way I listen to and experience sound. Recently, I began using AirPods in Adaptive Mode, which help suppress sudden loud noises while restoring some balance between my ears. In many ways, that experience inspired the title of today’s show. With this new reality in mind, I carefully selected and compiled music that I can comfortably tolerate, for the bigger part, creating a journey that feels deeply atmospheric, cinematic, and immersive. The Spacemusic podcast returns this May with a new episode titled “Idiopathic” — a journey through ambient textures, late-night reflections, dreaming and escape. The title carries a very personal meaning. In medicine, idiopathic describes something that happens without a known cause or explanation. Recently, I lost the hearing in my left ear, and despite tests and questions, there are still no clear answers. For someone whose life revolves around sound, it has been a deeply emotional experience. This episode became a way of processing that uncertainty through music — searching for calm, meaning, and light inside something difficult to understand. I will talk about it more during the show.
