Surf Report for Jacksonville Florida
Good morning, this is your Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia surf forecast for Wednesday, June third through Sunday. We're starting off with some serious Atlantic action today, folks. A High Surf Advisory is in effect until five AM Thursday, so if you've got the day off, get down to the beach early. We're looking at six to nine feet of surf along the Northeast Florida coast, with slightly smaller four to seven foot sets down in the Southeast Georgia area. These waves are going to be driven by some gusty northeast winds around twenty miles per hour, with gusts pushing thirty-five miles per hour near Jacksonville. Here's the thing though, and this is really important: we've got a High Rip Current Risk in effect through Friday afternoon. That means life-threatening rip currents are likely in the surf zone. So if you're heading out, know what you're doing and respect those currents. The water temperature is a pleasant eighty-one degrees, and we'll see mostly cloudy skies early giving way to mostly sunny conditions by afternoon. It'll be warm out there with highs in the upper seventies. UV index is very high, so slather on that sunscreen. Thursday shapes up to be a fantastic beach day. The surf will back off slightly to four to six feet along Northeast Florida and three to four feet down Georgia way. It'll be mostly sunny with northeast winds dropping to around fifteen miles per hour. High temperatures hover near eighty degrees. The good news is we're still dealing with that High Rip Current Risk, but conditions will be considerably more favorable than today. Looking ahead to Friday, the action continues to wind down. Expect two to four foot surf and mostly sunny skies with just a slight chance of showers. Temperatures climb to the lower eighties with light east winds around ten miles per hour. By Saturday, we're in cleanup mode. Waves drop to a manageable two to three feet, mostly sunny skies dominate, and highs reach the lower eighties. It's looking like an excellent day to get out there if you missed the earlier swell. Sunday finishes out the weekend with one to two foot surf down Georgia way and two to three feet up north. More sunshine, highs in the mid to upper eighties, and just a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms developing later in the day. Southeast winds stay light at around five miles per hour. So here's the bottom line: today and tomorrow are your prime windows with significant swell and good conditions, but always respect those rip currents. By the weekend, things mellow out nicely, but you'll still have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the water. Stay safe out there.
