In which the king, momentarily disguised, encounters two young ladies whose voices captivate him with tender admiration, and soon after is drawn into a scene of distress when one of them, Mademoiselle de la Vallière, faints. In the midst of his concern and subtle manoeuvring, the king confides in his companion and approaches Madame with affected unease, all while the court observes his careful performance.
