To Ponder: Can you think of any stories in the Bible where people are sustained by God’s word in suffering, or mockery, or a long journey, or through the night? To practice: Is there a particular Christian song you love? Spend some time listening to and meditating upon God’s word through song today. To pray: Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of thy only Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

To Ponder: Do you think all the different words used for God’s word are all the same or do they have slightly different meanings? To practice: Pay attention to the different rules you need to follow today. What makes different rules restrictive in good ways, and what rules are restrictive in bad ways? To pray: Dear God. To know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom. Amen.

To ponder: What selfish gain and worthless things are most tempting for you? To practice: Take a moment to pray and ask for God’s help. Pray for him to teach you, to give you understanding, to change your heart, to keep you from temptation and to forgive your sin. To pray: God, you have promised to do all these things. Please keep your promise! Amen.

To ponder: In what ways can you feel like dust? How do you resonate with the psalmist’s feelings of misunderstanding, or weariness, or deceitfulness? To practice: Are there ways that you can come alongside another believer to help and strengthen them? Try to do that practically for one person over the next few days. To Pray: Lord, I am weak. But with your help I want to run on your path. Amen.
