Episode UPS 2976 Crash Investigation Cover

UPS 2976 Crash Investigation

On November 4, 2025, less than a month ago, at 17:14, UPS Flight 2976, an MD-11F cargo aircraft, took off from Louisville International Airport in Kentucky on its way to Honolulu, Hawaii. Minutes later it caught fire. The aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff and was almost completely destroyed. All three pilots were killed. Eleven people on the ground were killed. Twenty-three others were injured. Security cameras at the airport captured something almost unimaginable: the left engine, engine number 1 out of 3, together with the pylon connecting it to the wing, simply detached. Seconds after takeoff. The burning engine fell to the ground, and the fire continued to spread around the engine-to-wing attachment area until the moment of impact. So what’s new now? In the last few days, the NTSB released its preliminary investigation report. It raises difficult, painful and important questions. What really caused the engine to detach from the wing? What is still unclear even after hundreds of hours of investigation? And why, despite the aircraft having three engines, could the remaining two not help? Have an idea for an episode? Episode Air India 171 Crash Investigation Cover

Air India 171 Crash Investigation

On June 12, Air India Flight 171 took off from Ahmedabad, India, heading to London, and crashed in less than a minute. Moments after one of the pilots made the emergency call 'Mayday,' the plane crashed into a residential neighborhood in western India. Only one passenger survived. Shortly after, the black boxes were found, and the cockpit recordings revealed one haunting question: Who shut down the engines and why? The initial report, which was supposed to provide answers, only raised more questions. So what really happened? Was it a technical malfunction, human error, or something else entirely?
