The Golden Thread
In the treaty port of Dengzhou and the remote villages of Shandong province, a missionary barely four and a half feet tall built something no one had asked her to build: a parallel structure of women organizing, funding, and sending workers into the field on their own terms. Harmonia traces her story from a laughing circle of children in a dusty street to the letter that founded an offering still funding missionaries more than a century later, and asks what it means to recognize a truth as fundamental as gravity, even while the weather insists otherwise.
