The Great Weird Outdoors
Every camper has heard it. The fire has burned down. The tent is zipped shut. The forest has gone quiet… Crunch. Something is outside. In this episode of The Great Weird Outdoors, we explore the strange sounds, eerie encounters, and campfire legends that have unsettled campers for generations. From curious bears and clever raccoons to screaming mountain lions, mysterious footsteps, Bigfoot, and the internet’s newest woodland legend… the Not Deer. Along the way, I share a few of my own experiences from years of backpacking, hiking, and working for the U.S. Forest Service, including the night something circled my tent in Pisgah National Forest, a tiny owl that completely fooled my survival instincts, and why the scariest thing in the woods is often just your own imagination. Most campground nightmares have ordinary explanations. A few… still make you wonder. So grab a cup of coffee, pull your camp chair a little closer to the fire, and join me for another evening in The Great Weird Outdoors. Stay curious, stay outside, and stay weird. 🌲🔥🎙️
