THE LOT
There is a distinct, mathematical geometry to damnation. We construct our elaborate fortresses of vanity, convincing ourselves that if we move fast enough, the friction of our speed will burn away the stench of the soil we crawled out from. We believe the dark belongs to us. But the dark is merely an instrument on a cosmic loop, and when the music stops, the ground always demands its deposit back. “He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, and has fallen into the hole which he made. His mischief will return upon his own head, and his violence will descend upon his own crown.” — Psalm 7:15-16 The past, my friends, does not slink quietly into the shadows. No... it lurks like a predator, biding its time in the damp, forgotten corners of the earth until the calculus of vengeance matches the opportunity. And then, with high velocity and cold, clinical violence—it collects what is owed. This is a public episode.
