Another month has gone by, so Andrew and I got together again to touch base and plan. It’s always great chatting with him, and this month I had some fears he had to quell because the race is getting closer and I’m getting nervous! Andrew also touched on how to take care of my body out there during a long effort, and we get set for my 100km challenge here in June! Coach Andrew Miller [https://teamrunrun.com/coach/andrew-miller-corvallis-running-coach/] is once again taking me under his wing as I prepare for my longest personal challenge to date, the Fat Dog 120. Andrew coaches for Team Run Run [https://www.instagram.com/teamrunrun/?hl=en], and he and I will chat for a few minutes each month about what we’ve been working on and why we’re working on it. The idea is to give listeners an idea of what it’s like to work towards a goal with a coach. It will be a blend of advice specific to me and to the community, and he will give us an idea of why he is doing things. The opportunity to work with a coach and also learn about their process is one I’m excited to share. Last month on The Miller Minutes, Andrew and I chatted about practicing with your poles, helping you fuel on race day, and more: Listen where you listen: Apple Podcasts [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-miller-minutes/id1867213337] Spotify [https://open.spotify.com/show/70FUwxplnZBw2LSL0dtioi?si=729b6653b7ac4658] We’re on the journey to 2,000 subscribers. Why practicing with your poles will make you fuel better on race day

Another month is in the books as my coach, Andrew Miller, gets me ready for Fat Dog 120 in August. I had some dentistry and work travel to work around, but still had a productive month, hitting 5 hours on my long runs and starting to dial in nutrition and hydration. I’m tracking what I’m drinking and eating out there, and I’ve been getting more practice with my poles. It does take some adjustment as you have to be more deliberate about eating and drinking when your hands have poles in them. Andrew was happy with where we are at and expects May to look a lot like April as far as training goes. We have my first 100k challenge in June, so that’s the next checkpoint! Why hiking and nutrition are just as important as the kilometres and the vert

It was another solid month, even if I didn’t feel like I got in a groove. Andrew added some hiking days, and we’ve increased the length of the long run. As running takes up more hours on the calendar, I’m learning to adjust, and it’s been great having Andrew guide me along! I’m getting excited as I’ve mapped out my June 100k and it was great getting to catch up and plan out April. 100 Mile Training #3

February was a good month, and even though it wasn’t perfect (Andrew reminded me that life is never perfect), we made some great progress and are feeling really positive about heading into March. We added some tempo run/interval workouts and increased the long run. And I even get a bonus 100k effort out of the deal! 100 Mile Training #2

January went quite well for me as far as getting back out consistently. It wasn’t perfect, but it was certainly a great start, and we’re moving into February with confidence. We’re slowly introducing speed workouts and increasing the long runs. I’m pumped to be working with Andrew and feeling good about where we are!
