On May 14th of 1983, news began to spread quickly that a local attorney and former commissioner was found in a nearby county deceased in his vehicle. Madison County law enforcement discovered a badly burnt car with a man inside who had been charred beyond recognition. They quickly learned that the vehicle belonged to Edward Cates, a prominent individual in Jackson, Mississippi.Later it was revealed that Cates was alive and well in Georgia. He was arrested and charged with capital murder and embezzlement. By January of 1984 he entered a plea negotiation that would dropped the murder charge down to manslaughter, resulting in only a 20 year prison sentence.Cates never revealed who the victim was that he used as a body double in the burned car. Othram Labs has created a funding campaign to allow the public to assist in funding the DNA testing that could be used to provide answers to the victim's family, the community, and ultimately give the victim their name back.Donate Here:https://dnasolves.com/articles/rankin-county-1983-homicide-victim/Support The Mourning Feed:Buy Me A Coffeehttps://buymeacoffee.com/themourningfeedSubscribe via Substack:https://substack.com/@themourningfeedX:https://x.com/TheMourningFeedThreads:https://www.threads.net/@mourningfeed Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/TheMourningFeedBlueSky:https://bsky.app/profile/themourningfeed.bsky.socialTikTok:https://www.tiktok.com/@themourningfeed

Colorado: Dakryn Rhymes Jr. missing since February 6, 2026

The parents of a Colorado teen, Dakryn Rhymes Jr., have not seen their son since February 6, 2026. The family went about their day as normal until Friday evening when Dakryn did not return home from school. It was immediately noticeable when they returned home in the afternoon and Dakryn was not there and by 9:00 p.m., their concerns were shared with law enforcement and a missing persons report was filed by the Denver Police Department. Dakryn was last seen leaving school near E 27th Avenue and Columbine Street in Denver and there are no verified sightings of him after that. Typically Dakryn takes public transportation home from school, a trip that takes roughly 14 minutes. There is no indication yet that Dakryn made it to the bus Friday afternoon. Family of Dakryn continues to share flyers and look for him throughout the city. Anyone who might have information about Dakryn’s disappearance is asked to contact the Denver Police Department at: (720)913-2000.
