EP 8: Brent Nelson – From a small-town childhood to a PhD and family dreams!

As a boy, Brent grew-up in a small town in the Bay area. Playing football on the streets and video games with his pack of friends, he was living the life of a small-town boy with lots of community. He then moved to a wealthy suburb where he became aware of what him and his family didn’t have compared to others, creating lots of questions about what life “should be?” Brent went on to college to pursue a degree in engineering and continued with his education all the way to accomplishing a PhD! After the intense journey of grad school, Brent worked as a professor in Flagstaff for years until moving to Boulder, Colorado where he now shares a beautiful home with his wife and is looking forward to having children and being a father! Melissa is a military veteran, gym owner, speaker, fighter, and a faithful servant of her creator. From dodging mortar strikes to sharing the stage with some of the world’s most renowned speakers. Melissa has navigated the experience of poverty, military warfare, traumatic relationships, and exceptional grief. She responded by “becoming a fighter,” and Melissa walks us through how she decided to step-out of her fear and embrace the fighter within!  As a fighter, Melissa believes that her life purpose is to help people cultivate their potential, to literally work-out what they are going through as they visit her gyms and experience her speaking around the country. Having the opportunity to stare into her purpose-driven eyes, I was moved by the tremendous courage and strength that Melissa embodies. I would love to be more like her!
