Episode The Biology of Spiritual Experience with Shaleen Kendrick, Pt. 1 Cover

The Biology of Spiritual Experience with Shaleen Kendrick, Pt. 1

In “The Biology of Spiritual Experience,” Dr. Sheri Kling speaks with Rev. Dr. Shaleen Kendrick about neurotheology and how our stories about God and reality shape our brains and our spirits. This is part one of the conversation. Did this resonate with you? Watch the full episode at https://sherikling.substack.com/p/biology-of-spiritual-experience. Download Dr. Sheri’s FREE guide, “Awakening to the Sacred,” here: http://subscribepage.io/jaCwFD [http://subscribepage.io/jaCwFD] * * * * * * * The Sacred Everywhere is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. If, as growing evidence suggests, spirituality is an innate human capacity, maybe our bodies are not secondary to spiritual experience but the living temple of encounter with the Sacred. In this episode, Dr. Kendrick talks about our three brains, neuro-relational integration, and why she brings open & relational theology to the intersection of neurobiology, theology, and spiritual experience. She also talks about our three brains: head, heart, and gut. In part 2, we get into a fascinating discussion of Jesus’ parables and what may be going on there in terms of polyvagal theory and neurospirituality. Watch the full episode at https://sherikling.substack.com/p/biology-of-spiritual-experience. Rev. Dr. Shaleen Kendrick, ThD, is an emerging neurotheologian who developed the Neuro-Relational Integration™ (NRI) model—demonstrating how conscious integration across Mind–Body–Spirit neural systems can facilitate rapid adaptive evolution in how we think, act, and relate to ourselves, others, and the challenges of our time. NRI integrates neuroscience with liberation theology to show that through daily wholeness-making practices we can expand our human capacity and create new abilities that nurture not just individual flourishing but transform the systems we live in. Rev. Dr. Kendrick is the author of Your Three Brains: The Neuroscience & Spirituality of Wholeness coming soon from Orbis books. https://orbisbooks.com/products/your-three-brains-the-neuroscience-spirituality-of-wholeness [https://orbisbooks.com/products/your-three-brains-the-neuroscience-spirituality-of-wholeness] She serves companies, practitioners, and faith communities, translating evolutionary spirituality into embodied practice—because the world needs humans who can evolve as quickly as our challenges emerge. Episode Was Jesus’ Resurrection Real? Cover

Was Jesus’ Resurrection Real?

Was Jesus’ Resurrection Real? From Empty Tomb to Living Transformation What if we’re asking the wrong question about Jesus’ resurrection? Maybe the real question isn’t “did it happen?” but “what does resurrection actually mean?” It was watching a video with Paul Wallis about the possibility that Jesus spent time in India before beginning his ministry that led me down today’s recorded rabbit hole. Of course, it’s a rabbit hole I love to explore and a question that I think a lot of people – Christians included – wonder about.  In this video and podcast, I explore a wide-ranging territory, including: * Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1-19) * Was what happened to Paul both a near death and a shared death experience? * What does scripture say about Jesus’ resurrected body? * What about the effects on Paul’s life? * How did the Jesus event radically change the people around him? * Does this connect with the idea in process theology about Christ as creative transformation? * What does resurrection mean for us today?   * * * * * * *  Did this resonate with you? Episode Sacred Listening, Asking, Healing Cover

Sacred Listening, Asking, Healing

For those of us who have lived alone for a long time, it’s often hard to ask for help. Asking for help makes us vulnerable. It can feel frightening. But what happens when we listen to what we need, move into how we feel about it, and ask for help from the people we know and love? Sometimes, the results can be surprising. In this video and podcast, Dr. Sheri Kling talks about projection, synchronicity, feminine vs. masculine (or lunar vs. solar) power, questioning our trauma-based lies and illusions of separation, and about sacred listening, asking, and the healing she received. Asking for help can be a radical act of self love. Do we love ourselves enough to ask for what we need? Even when it’s scary? * * * * * * * Did this resonate with you?
