Episode #73 Can Technology Make Us Better Gardeners? | Josh Gardens [ThePlantTechie] Cover

Beschreibung

In this episode I’m joined by Josh Gardens, also known as the Plant Techie, for a conversation about the crossover between plants, gardening and technology. Josh sits in that really interesting space where two worlds collide... the living, breathing, sometimes messy world of plants, and the fast-moving world of tech, tools, data and innovation. We talk about what technology can offer gardeners, where it can help us understand our plants better, and also where we need to be careful not to lose the simple human connection of actually observing, touching and spending time in the garden. This was a really fun chat and a great episode for anyone who loves plants, enjoys learning, and is curious about where gardening might be heading next. Episode #72 - The Beauty of Being a Home Gardener | Elisabeth Kingman [Garden Girl/Muddy Boots] Cover

#72 - The Beauty of Being a Home Gardener | Elisabeth Kingman [Garden Girl/Muddy Boots]

In this episode, I’m joined by Elisabeth Kingman or Garden Girl, and the other half of the Muddy Boots Podcast. After having Keith Edwards on the show, it was great to sit down with Elisabeth and hear her perspective as a home gardener, podcast host, and someone who is constantly learning through conversations, mistakes, seasons, and time spent in the garden. We talk about her gardening story, what it’s like learning alongside someone like Keith, the common mistakes everyday gardeners make, the joy of home gardening, garden design, and the beauty of simply getting in and having a go. This is a really human conversation about gardening from the perspective of someone who loves it, lives it, and is still learning — which, really, is where most of us are. If you enjoy these episodes and want to show your support to allow me to continue doing what I’m doing, the best thing you can do is subscribe. It helps the show reach more people who are interested in soil health and regenerative gardening! #71 - 365 Days Grass-Fed in the UK | Silas Hedley-Lawrence [Grassfed Farmer]

On the show this week we have the awesome Silas Hedley-Lawrence or the [Grassfed_farmer]. Silas is a regenerative agri-coach who has recently finished the incredible CREATE course by Nicole Masters and is making headway in the agriculture sector in the UK. In the conversation we outline how Silas manages to feed cows grass all year round in a place like the UK and what challenges are needing to be faced in order to tackle some of the issues with UK cattle farming. These are some really important topics and fill me with optimism and hope for the way in which we can farm for our future! Episode #70 - Building Resilience For Ourselves & Our Communities | Nick Pratt [Nicholasisbarefoot] Cover

#70 - Building Resilience For Ourselves & Our Communities | Nick Pratt [Nicholasisbarefoot]

Today I was joined by the mighty Nick Pratt who goes by the handle 'nicholasisbarefoot' sharing ways that people can regain control of their own resources and building resilience through close-knit communities. We speak about how broken systems are making us rely heavily upon them and when crisis strikes we bare the full force of the repercussions. Continuing to have the majority of our population relying on a few bottlenecks bound to break is a recipe for disaster. This conversation sheds light on what we can do to bring back a little more security for ourselves, our families and our communities. By growing our own food, harvesting natural resources like rain, carbon, sunlight etc, we can protect ourselves against collapse and reinforce what it means to be part of a symbiotic system within nature. Episode #69 - Farming From the Inside Out | Blair Beattie [Farmers Footprint AU] Cover

#69 - Farming From the Inside Out | Blair Beattie [Farmers Footprint AU]

In this episode I sit down with Blair Beattie from Farmer’s Footprint Australia for a really grounded conversation around regeneration, farming, glyphosate, mindset, and the deeper human side of land stewardship. We touch on the movement behind Farmer’s Footprint and the role it plays in telling a more honest and hopeful story around Australian agriculture — not just focusing on farming practices, but the people behind them, their stories, their challenges, and the potential for real change. We also speak about the podcast, *The Invisible Ingredient*, and the conversations he’s been having around glyphosate — where it sits in our food system, our landscapes, our health, and the bigger questions we probably need to be asking as a society. One of the parts I really enjoyed was getting into the retreats Blair has been helping run for farmers. Not just from a “here’s how to farm better” angle, but more so looking at who we are as people, what we’re carrying, how we relate to ourselves, and how that then reflects out into the land, the farm, the family, the business, and the wider community. Because so much of regeneration can get spoken about through the lens of soil, plants, carbon, water and biodiversity (which is all important) but there’s also this deeper layer around the human being making the decisions. The mindset shift. The connection. The willingness to slow down, reflect, and actually look at what’s driving the way we manage land. This was a really thoughtful conversation and one that weaves between farming, food systems, glyphosate, personal growth, community, and the deeper essence of what it means to live and work in relationship with the land.
