In our latest edition of The Update GP podcast, City Manager Aaron Cubic’s guests are Fire Chief Jimmy Sanchez and Councilor Kathleen Krohn.  Chief Sanchez discusses a $296,000 Community Wildfire Risk Reduction grant from the office of the Oregon State Fire Marshal that will pay for helping residents of Grants Pass create defensible space around their homes to help protect against wildfire. Residents wishing to participate in the defensible space program can send an email to firedefense@grantspassoregon.gov [firedefense@grantspassoregon.gov], or call 541-450-6200. Application will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and will focus on the most at-risk areas in the city. Councilor Krohn gives an update from the latest City Council meeting, as well as brief updates about Parker’s Place and the Owl Plaza. If you have questions for the mayor or a city councilor, you may contact them at mayorcouncil@grantspassoregon.gov. Questions for our City Manager can be asked at acubic@grantspassoregon.gov
